With its sheer abundance of schooling fish making it probably the best and most famous dive site in the Gulf of Thailand, this large pinnacle (which begins above sea level) provides a superb wall dive effect. Together with a number of surrounding smaller pinnacles, Sail Rock offers an amazingly varied topography. The largest pinnacle hosts the famous Chimney, a large vertical swim-through with its deepest entry point around 18m, reaching the top at around 8m.

Whilst a variety of larger pelagic fish including Barracuda, Mackerel form huge schools around the rock, present on the rock itself is an incredibly varied ecosystem formed by countless species including Groupers, Wrasses, Snapper, Batfish, Angelfish, Damselfish.
Numerous interesting species of marine life such as Scorpionfish, Moray Eels, Shrimps, Nudibranchs and Sea Slugs can also be found both on the wall and amongst the hard and soft corals.
Depending on season and conditions, Sail Rock is also one of the Gulf of Thailand’s sites most commonly visited by the world’s largest fish, the immense Whale Shark.
Snorkelling Note: Although primarily a diving site, Sail Rock also offers excellent diving & snorkelling trips when conditions are suitable. Please ask a member of staff for advice on conditions prior to booking.
