Video clip of Sea Snail jumping at Mae Haad, Koh Phangan!

I recently came across this (as yet unidentified)* Sea Snail during a recent dive at Mae Haad/Koh Ma. It was obviously aware of my presence as its elongated "stalk eyes" followed my movement.

Whilst pausing for a couple of photographs, the snail pulled in its muscular "foot" and, after a few seconds, it suddenly sprang backwards, making a number of small hops.

I quickly switched the camera into video mode and filmed this fleeing behaviour for a couple of minutes.

*Update on the species. I'm now quite sure this is a Pearl conch (Strombus canarium)*
